Johnny Galecki Felt That Putting His Personal Life Out There Would Hurt Leonard On TBBT
Johnny Galecki continues to keep a low profile nowadays. However, that was also the case during The Big Bang Theory, as fans knew very little about Galecki's personal life. During an interview with YRB Magazine back in 2011, Galecki revealed the reason why he decided to keep a low profile.
"There is a part of it that’s good for business, I suppose, but that’s the business of being a television star. When one thing starts to overwhelm or distract from the other, the work suffers, and eventually no one is gonna want to photograph or interview you anyway.

He continues, "There are some people in our industry that seem to operate outside of the business in a way that I feel is more for a personal sense of value, and having that doesn’t validate me. Fans Wanted To See More Scenes With Johnny Galecki And Melissa Rauch After Their Chemistry During An Interview
The chemistry between Johnny Galecki and Melissa Rauch was obvious during a candid interview outside of The Big Bang Theory set.
According to Galecki, the same held true during his relationship with Kaley Cuoco. The actor was strict about keeping the relationship a secret, worrying that it would hurt the show's credibility.
"I was very uncomfortable with being public about it, and I think that hurt Kaley's feelings a little bit, and I can understand that."
"It certainly wasn't because I was embarrassed of her or our relationship, but I wanted to be protective of the audience's acceptance of Penny and Leonard, and without distraction from the tabloids," he continued.

Galecki decided to stay off the map and is enjoying his time off away from Hollywood, currently living in Texas. It wasn't due to a lack of offers as The Conners also pitched the actor.
The series said goodbye for good to Galecki in season 5. Bruce Helford explains, “We even approached [Galecki] for this episode, to be honest with you,” Helford told TVLine. “It was just one of those things where it didn’t work out — and like you say, he’s certainly taking a step away, taking a breather, and we understand that. But we have to deal with what’s going on in the Conners’ lives, so we just decided this was the time [to address David’s absence].”
